Applicants will undertake a Level 1 Basic Track and Field two day course, which covers a basic technical model for all track & field disciplines. Please note the Introduction to Coaching Course (ITC) is not a pre-requisite to be eligible to complete this course.
Upon completion of the Level 1 Basic Track and Field course, applicants are then able to choose to undertake an Event Specific course (Level 2) over two days. The Event Specific discipline groups include: Sprints/Hurdles/Relays, Middle Distance and Race Walking, Throws, Jumps and Coaching Athletes with disabilities.
The Australian Coaching Council's (ACC) Beginning Coaching Manual and the ATFCA Coaching Manual are the mandatory books for this course. The written exams are open book and accreditation will be awarded upon successful completion of these exams and practical assessments. Attendees must be at least 16 years of age to participate in the Level 1 Basic Track and Field course and at least 17 years of age to participate in the Level 2 Event Specific course.

In general Queensland Athletics conducts the Brisbane courses while Sports Credentials conducts the non-Metropolitan and Teachers Certificate courses throughout the State. All courses are conducted on behalf of the ATFCA - Queensland Branch.
