QLAA Officials Committee

The committee consists of the following members:

  • Les Gearey (Twin Towns)
  • Shane Perkins (Sunnybank)
  • Lina Fonoti (Balmoral)        
  • Louise Shingles (Helensvale)
  • John Hayter (Redcliffe)



Overview

The committee is established to assist with the allocation of officials to the Association competitions and maintaining the official’s room at these competitions. Unless specifically empowered by the full Board, committees cannot make binding decisions. For the most part the function of committees is to solve problems for and/or make recommendations to the Board.

The Officials Committee must have a minimum of three members and a maximum of five members. The timing of Committee meetings must be such that minutes and recommendations are provided to the Board, at least ten (10) days prior to the next Board meeting.

Staff members assigned to assist the committee will work with the committee to achieve positive outcomes for the Association however their work priorities will be determined by the CEO, not the committee.


Responsibilities

  • To make recommendations to the Board regarding the appointment of officials to QLAA competitions
  • Liaise with the Competition Committee making recommendations for the appointment of officials to QLAA Championships/Carnivals
  • Liaise with QLAA staff and Competition Committee in regards to the conduct of all Association competitions
  • Assess issues referred by the Board/CEO in relation to officials and report and make recommendations on these to the Board.
